scenes of seattle part 1 .

We had such a perfect weekend in Seattle. Completely lucking out, the weather was absolutely beautiful and sunny throughout the weekend, which made the city look so gorgeous and alive. We packed the car and drove up Friday night to meet our lovely Seattle-living friend Ginny and pick up Chloe, a friend visiting from Connecticut, from the airport.

Saturday was spent at Pike Place Market, drinking coffee, eating fresh seafood, and lounging in the park by the Space Needle. It was the perfect afternoon sitting in the grass, drinking wine and eating cheese, enjoying the great company, eclectic people-watching, and kids laughing & running in the fountain under the strong presence of the beautiful architectural structure: quite the American version of a Parisian afternoon by the Eiffel Tower.

Being my first time to Seattle (and considering that the majority of all I have heard about Seattle is that it is grey and rainy), I was completely blown away by how wonderful the city was. The weather being great definitely didn't hurt, but I loved how much Seattle reminded me of a larger, more city-like, version of Portland. A lot of the things I value about living in Oregon are definitely found in the culture there, and the city itself is beautiful. It was great for all of us to get out for a mini-vacation, take in the sights, and spend time together.

That last photograph is truly fantastic. I'm so glad you wrote some posts about your trip to Seattle. I'm heading up there in early July and needed some places to go visit. That troll is going to be a must!
